Ingredients

Burgers:

  • 1 ½ lbs 85% lean ground beef see Note
  • ½ medium yellow onion peeled and grated
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled and crushed
  • 2 Tbsp minced fresh parsley
  • 1 Tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp ground coriander
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • tsp ground allspice

Toppings:

  • 4 burger buns
  • ¼ red onion thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato thinly sliced
  • ¼ English cucumber thinly sliced
  • ½ c. Tzatziki Sauce homemade or store-bought
  • 4 Tbsp crumbled feta cheese

Tzatziki Sauce:

  • ¾ c. plain Greek yogurt
  • ¼ English cucumber grated
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled and crushed
  • 1 ½ tsp minced fresh dill
  • ½ tsp salt
  • tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

Greek Burgers:

  • Preheat a grill to medium-high heat.
  • Mix together all ingredients for the burgers in a large bowl. Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties.
  • Cook the burger patties until they’re done to your preference, about 7 to 9 minutes per side, flipping once.
  • If desired, split the buns in half and toast them (cut side down) on the grill for a couple minutes.
  • To serve, put each burger on a bun. Top each burger with a slice of red onion, a slice of tomato, a few cucumber slices, 2 tablespoons Tzatziki Sauce, and 1 tablespoon crumbled feta.

Tzatziki Sauce:

  • Stir together all ingredients in a medium bowl.
  • Serve.

Notes

Greek Burgers
  • Instead of using all beef, you can use a mixture of half ground beef and half ground lamb, or all ground lamb if you prefer.
Tzatziki Sauce
  • Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
  • If you like your Tzatziki extra garlicky, add up to 2 cloves more garlic.
  • Instead of fresh dill, you can use 1/2 teaspoon dried dill.
