Ingredients

  • 3 cans cut green beans 14.5 oz each, drained
  • 10.5 ounces cream of mushroom soup 10.5 oz cab
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper
  • 2.8 ounces french fried onions 1 can

Instructions

  • Set your smoker to 225°F using your choice of wood pellets according to manufacturer's directions.
  • In a large mixing bowl combine the cream of mushroom soup, Worcestershire sauce, sea salt and pepper. Fold in the drained green beans.
  • Transfer to a cast iron skillet or 8x8 aluminum pan. Set on the smoker and cook for 30 minutes.
  • Cover the top of the green bean casserole with crispy fried onions and smoke for another 15 minutes or until heated through.
  • Remove casserole from the smoker and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Apple wood pellets work great for this smoker recipe. You can also try hickory or pecan.
  • You can assemble the casserole the night before (don’t add the onions on top), cover it, and keep it in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to smoke it, let it sit out at room temperature while the smoker heats. Next, cook it following the instructions in the recipe card.
  • Green bean casserole is best served as soon as it’s made, but if you have leftovers they will keep for two to three days. Keep them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The French onion topping won’t be as crunchy, but the casserole will still taste great.
