The Best Hamburger Recipe

A few simple ingredients take these hamburgers over the top. So juicy and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground hamburger 80% lean
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp seasoning salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 4 leaves lettuce
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 tomato sliced

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl combine all ingredients. Split into 1/4's. Form each portion loosely into a burger and make a depression in the center with your thumb.
  • Heat a gas grill to high heat. When it reaches 350 - 400 degrees F place burgers on grill grat. Grill the first side about 3 minutes or until golden brown and slightly charred. Flip over burgers. Cook an additional 6 minutes or until it reaches desired doneness. 
  • While burgers are cooking butter the insides of the buns. Place buns, butter side down, on grill grates to toast. Remove from grill when they are lightly toasted.
  • When the burgers are done, remove from grill place on toasted bun and top with lettuce, onion and tomato or you favortie toppings!

Notes

If using a grill pan heat the pan over high heat on top of the stove. Cook the burgers according to directions above. 
If using a sauté pan or grilled (preferably cast iron); Heat oil in the pan over high heat until oil begins to simmer. Cook burgers until golden brown and slightly charred on the first side, about three minutes, flip. Continue to cook until golden brown about 6 minutes or until cooked to desired doneness. 
If adding cheese to the tops of the burgers you want to do this during the last minute of cooking, cover grill or tent the burgers with aluminum foil in a pan to melt the cheese.
