Smoked Baked Beans

Smoky baked beans with bacon that are cooked in a Dutch oven on your smoker! So much flavor in this easy side dish.

Ingredients

  • 6 strips thick cut bacon chopped
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 cans Pork and Beans 28 ounces each
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons molasses
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons yellow mustard

Instructions

  • Set up the smoker to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Preheat the dutch oven to medium heat on your stove top.
  • Add the chopped bacon to the dutch oven and cook until it starts to brown.
  • Add onion and garlic to the bacon and stir to coat in the rendered fat.
  • Cook until the onions have softened then remove from the heat.
  • Add the remaining ingredients to the dutch oven and stir to combine.
  • Place the dutch oven on the preheated smoker at 250 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for 2 hours. Stir beans every 30 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and serve while warm.

Notes

FRIDGE: Spoon leftovers into an airtight container and allow them to cool completely. Then store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
FREEZER: After allowing the beans to cool in an airtight container, store in the freezer for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw before reheating.
To reheat, place on the stove top or in the microwave until warmed through.
