Balsamic Steak Marinade Recipe

Easy Balsamic Steak Marinade with balsamic vinegar, garlic, rosemary, brown sugar, salt, and pepper—marinate, then grill for a flavorful steak.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon crushed dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 ½ pounds steaks 2-4 steaks

Instructions

  • In a small bowl whisk all the ingredients except the steak.
  • Add steaks to a resealable zip lock bag or large bowl and pour the marinade over the top of the steak. Squeeze as much air out of bag as possible and seal.
  • Marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight in refrigerator.

To Make Steaks in Skillet

  • Turn heat to high and let preheat a few minutes until skillet is hot. Place steaks in skillet. Cook each side for 3 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-high. Cook steaks to the desired doneness, flipping as needed. It will take about 10 minutes depending on thickness of steaks. We prefer ours to be medium which is about 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Let steaks rest 3 minutes before serving.

To Make Steaks on Grill

  • Preheat grill to medium-high. Place steaks on grill. Cook 4-6 minutes per side or until the internal temperature reaches at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit for medium. Let steaks rest 3 minutes before serving.

Notes

Fridge: If you want to make your marinade ahead without adding it to your steak right away, you can do so a couple of days in advance and keep it in the fridge before marinating the steak for 2 to up to 24 hours.
Freezer: You can prepare your marinade, toss the steak into the ziplock bag and freeze to use another time. Thaw in the fridge overnight before cooking.
Reheat leftover steak slowly on the stovetop or in the microwave until hot throughout.
