These Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread Foil Packets are gooey, sweet and sinful! There’s only five ingredients in these breakfast foil packets and they are perfect for grilling or making over the campfire. Plus, they are fun to eat and easy to clean up.
The kids will love to make this breakfast treat and they totally can, well you might want to help them cut up the cinnamon rolls depending on their age, but after that let them shake the bag with the rolls and cinnamon sugar in them, fill the packets and wrap them up.
Why this recipe works:
- Only five ingredients needed.
- Easy cleanup because it cooks in aluminum foil.
- Can be made in the oven, on the grill or over the campfire.
What is Monkey Bread?
- Monkey bread is also known as sticky bread, gold crown, pinch-me cake, pluck-it cake and monkey puzzle bread
- It is a soft, sweet and sticky pastry served in the U.S. for breakfast or as a treat. My version is made out of cinnamon rolls for a quick easy monkey bread recipe
- It consists of pieces of soft baked dough that have been sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Don’t forget the butter!
Ingredients Needed
- Sugar
- Cinnamon
- Cold butter
- Brown sugar
- Cinnamon rolls with icing
Steps to Prepare
- Preheat grill to 325 or prepare campfire coals.
- Spray two pieces of aluminum foil with non-stick spray. Set aside.
- In a gallon Ziploc bag combine cinnamon and sugar. Cut each cinnamon roll into 4 pieces. Place in bag. Toss until coated. Divide cinnamon rolls between tinfoil sheets.
- Cut butter into small cubes and sprinkle evenly between the two foil packs. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Seal tightly by folding up edges.
- Cook on grill grate over low heat, turning frequently or on a grate over hot coals for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.
- Open foil packs and drizzle icing on top of monkey bread.
Expert Tips
- Use a scissors to cut the rolls to make it quick and simple.
- Spray the foil before filling it to prevent sticking
- Make sure to evenly cook the foil packets so they don’t burn. You want to monitor your temperature and rotate them through the cooking process
- Love nuts? Add some pecans to your foil packets. Have others that don’t? You can skip them on one of the foil packets
I do know that if I was into camping these Monkey Bread Foil Packets would be on my menu. They are so delicious and so easy. Plus, camping friendly because you hardly need anything to make them and almost everything is disposable. Heck, you could even use a plastic knife to cut the cinnamon rolls up if you needed too!
