Delicious ranch seasoned Grilled Chicken Legs are perfect for your cookouts, barbecues and backyard parties! They are flavorful, easy and inexpensive. These easy grilled drumsticks will be a hit and favorite for the summer!
My kids are obsessed with eating chicken drumsticks. After I learned this I was on a mission to make every type of drumstick possible! So far we have BBQ Chicken Drumsticks and now these delicious ranch seasoned chicken legs! I love that they are so simple with only three ingredients and something that I know my children will eat.
The best part about this is it’s something that Mom and Dad actually enjoy eating too!
I think it might be because they get to eat them with their fingers. Finger food is always more fun, right? Even at my age there’s something about digging in and getting messy!
These are perfect for all you backyard entertaining this summer. Plus, you can serve up a few different kinds of chicken legs that you’ve grilled and everyone will be pleased. Another things I adore is that they are inexpensive, so it’s easy to feed a crowd. Typically, you can score them for under a $1 a pound.
Ingredients Needed for Grilled Chicken Legs
- Chicken legs
- Olive oil
- Ranch dressing mix
Steps to Prepare
They are so simple! Three ingredients and done!
- Season Drumsticks – Brush olive oil on chicken legs then rub with ranch dressing mix.
- Grill – Grill at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, rotating every 10 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 185-190 degrees F.
Expert Tips
- You want to cook chicken drumsticks until they are 180-190 degrees F. I know this seems really hot and chicken is usually done before that, but cooking them to a higher heat point makes it so the chicken isn’t stringy like sometimes happens and it’s not bloody by the bone. Trust me just do it!
- Keep the grill temperature to about 350 degrees F. This temp allows the chicken to be perfectly cooked, but the skin won’t become scorched.
- Keep the lid to the grill closed as much as possible .
- Flip the chicken legs every ten minutes.
- Have some water ready in case there are flare ups. Chicken drumsticks have a lot of skin which renders when grilling and can drip grease causing flare ups.
- Grill over direct heat.

Can you bake these
Megan Mitzel says
Yes, you can! You can either place them directly on a baking sheet (using parchment paper might help with sticking) or place them on a wire rack in a baking sheet. Follow the same heat and time instructions. You wouldn’t necessarily have to rotate them every 10 minutes in the oven but you still could if desired. Bake until internal temp reaches 185-190 degrees.
