Chili Cheese Brats topped and ready to serve. Sitting in a silver serving tray.

There’s nothing like a hot, juicy brat topped with chili, cheese and onions during the summer!

Chili Cheese Brats are easy, delicious and the perfect quick and easy dinner recipe. They are also great for serving at backyard parties or when you are tailgating.

Why this recipe works:

  • Ready in less then 30 minutes
  • Perfect for serving for dinner or at a party
  • Everyone can top it their own way

Ingredients Needed

  • Brats – We prefer fresh brats and not precooked
  • Nacho Cheese – Either store bought or homemade
  • Chili – Either store bought or homemade
  • Diced Onion – Chop them yourself or grab a container of diced onion at the store to make it even easier.
  • Buns – We used brat buns which are a little more heartier and hold up well with the toppings.

Steps to Prepare

  • Preheat grill to 350 – 400 degrees F. Place brats on grill and grill 15-20 minutes according to package directions, flipping once or until they reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees F.
  • Remove from grill. Place each brat in a bun and top with chili, nacho cheese and diced onion.
  • Serve immediately.

That’s right! Simply grill the brats and then top them.

We love using this recipe for when we have friends and family over in the backyard for a cookout or when tailgating or watching the big game.

Simply serve that brats on buns on a platter and the toppings on the side. Then everyone can grab a brat and top it with their desired toppings. So easy to serve with an impressive appearance!
