Smoked Pumpkin Pie is a quick and easy holiday dessert that is made on your smoker! This pie has a subtle smoked flavor that makes it amazing. You can also make it in your oven if you don’t have a smoker. Whip up a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving! Don’t forget that whipped cream on top.

Slice of Pumpkin Pie on plate

The holidays just aren’t the holidays without a delicious pumpkin pie. What I love about this recipe is that you get to make it in your smoker. And if you’re scratching your head on how to make it happen, don’t fret.

These simple steps will show you that it isn’t that hard to do at all!

One of the key tips we have is to take a rimmed baking sheet

and place it upside down on your smoker. Then place the pie on top of that when you are smoking it. This will help distribute the heat more evenly. It’s a quick and simply hack to get your that most amazing Smoked Pumpkin Pie ever!

What do I need to make Pumpkin Pie?

You will only need a handful of ingredients to make your pumpkin pie which is awesome because holidays are a busy time. I personally use a refrigerated crust that you just unroll and place in your baking dish. I’m all about shortcuts and making things easier. If you have a favorite pie crust please feel free to use that.

If you’d rather skip my (very helpful, I think) tips and tricks, essential cooking info, and similar recipe ideas – and get straight to this deliciously easy recipe – simply scroll to the bottom of the page where you can find the printable recipe card.

How to Smoke a Pumpkin Pie

Step by Step Photos Above!

  • Preheat your smoker to 325 degrees. Then place a rimmed baking sheet upside down on the smoker or cake pan.
  • Combine all the ingredients above into a large bowl and then pour it into your unbaked pie crust.
  • Place pumpkin pie on top of upside-down baking sheet inside the smoker. Smoke for 50-60 minutes or until inserted knife comes out clean from the middle of the pie.
  • Cool for 2 hours. (the longer that you allow to cool, the more that the smoke flavor will come out)

Pumpkin Pie on Traeger

Expert Tips!

  • Place a rimmed baking sheet upside down and then place the pie on it to baking it more evenly in your smoker. This helps distribute the heat evenly.
  • If your pumpkin pie is wet it is a sign that you’ve over baked your pumpkin. The wetness is actually from the eggs being overcooked that are added into the mixture.
  • Another thing that can happen if you over bake your pie is that it will crack on top.
  • A pumpkin pie is done when you can take a butter knife and insert it into the middle of the pie and pull it out without having any residue on it.
  • Once your pie is cooled completely, place your pie in an airtight container and keep it stored in the fridge.
  • If you happen to have leftover pumpkin pie, you can store it the same way as above. Just make certain that you keep it cool and save space for it in your fridge!

More desserts on your Smoker!

It’s always fun to end your meal with a sweet treat! If you are prepping your main dish on the smoker throw on a dessert to impress your family and friends with!

  • Apple Bread – Tender easy quick bread loaded with flavor. It’s packed with fresh apples, spices and finished with a powdered sugar icing.
  • Smoked Apple Crumb Pie – A flaky pie crust topped with layers of apples and a sweet crumble on top.

You said that this was smoked on a Trager with Hickory Wood Chips. Since you are using wood chips, is your Traeger an Electric Smoker or Pellet Grill? I have both, one using pellets, so I was wondering which one you used. Thanks for the great recipes you have.

Is there no sugar in this pie because it’s smoked?

The sweetened condensed milk will sweeten the pie.

I was delighted by the flavor of this pie! My family loves to eat pumpkin pie all year long so this will be on repeat since I don’t have to turn on the oven in the summer!

I would love to try this but my electric smoker only heats to 275, , can I still smoke the pie at that temperature? Thank you!

I think it would still work, it’ll just take longer. Bake until the center is set!
