Smoked Apple Pie is made on your electric smoker and it’s so amazing! A flaky pie crust topped with layers of apples and a sweet crumble on top. It’s the perfect ending to your meal prepared on your Traeger smoker. Always a hit at holiday meals like Thanksgiving! Are you ready to try making apple crumble pie recipe on your smoker?
Smoked Apple Pie
This might come as a big surprise, but the smoker can be used for baking! When it’s time for baking, whether it’s the holidays when oven space is at a premium OR summertime when the last thing you want to do is heat up your house – break out your Traeger or your electric smoker!
What? You betcha!
I’ve shared grilled and smoked desserts before; Blueberry Lemon Cobbler on the Grill, Grilled Apple Dump Cake or Smoked Strawberry Crisp. There’s more to it than simply using your smoker as an oven though. Smoked desserts have even more flavor!
In fact, you may have even visited the orchard this fall, with a pile of the BEST apples it’s time to make a Smoked Apple Pie!
My husband took our favorite Apple Crumb Pie, changed a few things to his liking and then we gave it a ride on our smoker.
AMAZING.
In fact, I think he’s bringing the pie to Thanksgiving after taking a bite of this. It was still warm, plus topped with a little vanilla ice cream. I fell in love. With the apple pie. With my husband a little more. I think it was a win/win situation!
Smoked Desserts
Sweet apples piled on a flaky crust topped with a delicious crumble topping. Doesn’t that sound heavenly? Like I said before, don’t forget the vanilla ice cream and if you get really wild and crazy drizzle it with a little caramel sauce!

can you make this pie a day in advance? Don’t want a soggy crust!
Brooke Kill says
Yes you can! Just make sure to cool the pie before putting it in the fridge and store it in an air tight container.

My electric smoker only goes to 275. How long would you recommend it bake?
the Evinks says
I’m guessing around 2 hours?
Jeff Wood says
My Smokin-it smoker only goes to 250F. Can I adjust the recipe to use my smoker?
Katrina says
Maybe a dumb question, but what’s the best way to keep this gluten free and THANKS!!! Will be making this on the recteq! 😍
the Evinks says
You’d need to use a gluten free crust, gluten free flour and do a different topping as oats have gluten. I’m not an expert thought so I can’t guarantee this is gluten free!
Mike Martin says
It was easy to make and tasted awesome. All the friends at the campground agreed
the Evinks says

Should I use frozen or thawed pie crust?
Megan Mitzel says
Thawed pie crust
Neera says
What kind of apples do you recommend using?
Megan Mitzel says
That is really up to you! We prefer a sweeter variety when making apple desserts but you could also go with something more tart like granny smith to balance out the sugar. Any apple will make a great dessert, it’s all about your preference!

I’m new to baking. For the crumble, is the butter at room temp or what? I’ll be using
Julie Evink says
You’ll want it slightly cold so you can cut it in with do forks. Just kind of smush it all together! It’s kind of fail proof 🙂
Kelly says
We made this pie for a small get together with friends. It was so good! Everyone enjoyed it!

My daughter asked me to make this for her b-day, can u use pre made crust and do u smoke it in a tin foil pie plate. I have seen a couple where you use glass. Don’t wanna screw up her b-day pie!! lol
Julie Evink says
We used a glass pie plate. I haven’t tested it in the foil plate. I’d just make sure it didn’t cook to fast b/c the tin might heat faster. We bought a pre-made Pillsbury crust and just put it in the glass pie plate! It comes pre-rolled out 🙂
Gordon Tyler Lee says
So after reviewing the instructions, is it 1.5 hours in the smoker or 4.5? At the top of the page it says 4.5. Just curious.
Thanks!
Julie Evink says
It’s 1.5 hours, thanks for letting me know it was a typo!
