PIN IT FOR LATER!

The best way to cook a Pork Tenderloin is on the grill – hands down. And the grill just so happens to be the best way to cook a pork tenderloin! Especially when they are covered in this delicious homemade BBQ marinade that you use to baste them while grilling and the result is a perfect sticky sweet and juicy pork tenderloin!

Another thing I love about this recipe is it’s totally one you can enjoy on a weeknight. Take five minutes in the morning to mix up your marinade and throw it in the fridge for the day, come home and fire up the grill, throw the pork on and you have dinner in 30 minutes.

If you are really short on time, whip up the marinade the night before and have half of it in the fridge in a Ziploc bag. Then in the morning, just add your pork tenderloin to the bag and toss to coat. It will take you a max of two minutes.

Why You’ll Love this BBQ Pork Tenderloin Recipe

  • Only 5 ingredients and you probably already have them in your pantry!
  • Marinate in the morning, grill at night means dinner in 30 minutes.
  • Juicy, tender pork tenderloin every time

Ingredients for BBQ Pork Tenderloin

  • Pork Tenderloin – about 2 pounds should do the trick!
  • BBQ sauce – any mild, original flavor BBQ sauce will be great in this marinade.
  • Grape jelly – the secret ingredient for this BBQ recipe.
  • Garlic – if you only have garlic powder, use 1/4 teaspoon in place of fresh, minced garlic.
  • Black Pepper – a great addition to every marinade.

Helpful Tools

  • Meat Thermometer
  • Zip top bags
  • Basting brush
  • Grill tongs
  • Aluminum foil
  • Grill

How to Grill Pork Tenderloin

  1. Prep Marinade – In a bowl, mix BBQ sauce, grape jelly, garlic and black pepper for the marinade and sauce.
  2. Coat – Place pork tenderloins in a container or resealable plastic bag and add half of the BBQ marinade. Place the remaining marinade in the refrigerator in airtight container.
  3. Marinate – Place marinating pork tenderloin in the refrigerator and let marinate 4-8 hours.
  4. Prep Grill – When the pork is done marinating preheat grill to about 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place tenderloins on grill and discard extra marinade from the container they were in.
  5. Grill – Grill pork for about 30 minutes, rotating it every 10 minutes. Baste with reserved marinade every time you rotate the pork.
  6. Rest – Remove from grill when the internal temperature is at 145 degrees Fahrenheit according to an instant read thermometer. Tent with foil and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Should I close the grill lid?

You betcha! Closing the lid of your grill will allow the temperature to stay consistent, in turn cooking the pork tenderloin more evenly.

How To Bake Pork Tenderloin In the oven

If you prefer to use the oven, simply follow the same directions, but bake in the oven on a baking sheet at 350 degrees Fahrenheit instead of using the grill. Cook time should be the same but you should still use a thermometer to check that the internal temperature is 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

How Long To Grill Pork Tenderloin?

Pork tenderloin will take about 30 minutes to cook through to 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Be sure to rotate the pork every 10 minutes and baste with the delicious homemade BBQ marinade.

How to store leftovers

Once BBQ Pork Tenderloin has cooled, store leftovers in an airtight container up to three days in the fridge.

If you don’t think you’ll get to it before three days, you can store leftovers in the freezer. Leave to thaw in the fridge overnight.

How to use leftovers

Reheat leftover pork tenderloin in a frying pan or in the microwave with a bit of water to avoid drying out the pork.

Add leftover pork to nachos, sandwiches, pork fried rice, a wrap or even salads.

Pro Tips

  • Make sure you marinate the tenderloin at least four hours to achieve maximum flavor.
  • Make sure your grill is preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. If you are looking for those perfect grill marks I found this awesome Sear Grate for my Weber Genesis Grill. I let that get piping hot by placing it on the grill while it’s preheating and it gives me those grill marks I covet so much!
  • You’ll want to flip the tenderloin 2-3 times while grilling, making sure you baste it with your reserved BBQ sauce to get that sticky sweet sauce on your pork tenderloins that we all love.
  • Don’t overcook the pork or you will get tough, chewy pork tenderloin and no one wants that. The recommended internal temp is 145 degrees Fahrenheit. We use this awesome Wireless Food Thermometer to help us monitor it.
  • You MUST let it rest after removing it from the grill. This will give it a chance to let the juices redistribute and give you that tender, juicy pork everyone loves.

I have a Weber charcoal grill. I grilled indirect, turning and basting as you suggested. Using a temp gage, I removed at 142 degrees and covered till it reached 145 degrees. The last couple min I did flip and put over direct flame to get those grill marks. Marinated in fridge 16 hours. Huge hit for the extended family! WOW good!

I gave it three stars because it calls for HOMEMADE barbecue sauce but doesn’t include a recipe for it or a link to a recipe.

Sweet Baby Ray’s or Kraft Hickory flavor would have also taken it to a 5*
