- This recipe uses simple ingredients, many of which you may already have on hand.
- Making french toast is a great way to utilize your Blackstone griddle for more than just dinner and lunch recipes.
Ingredients for Blackstone French Toast
- Thick slices of bread – Thick sliced bread is best to use for french toast! It holds up better when doused in the liquid mixture.
- Eggs – Allow your eggs to come to room temperature before whisking them together with the other ingredients.
- Whole milk – Whole milk works best in this recipe, but you could also use half and half or 2% milk.
- Vanilla extract – A little splash of vanilla goes a long way, so don’t omit it in this Blackstone french toast recipe. It really elevates the flavor!
- Ground cinnamon – French toast is always best with a generous amount of cinnamon!
- Granulated sugar – Sweeten the french toast a bit by adding sugar into the egg mixture.
- Butter – You can use salted or unsalted butter, either is fine. This is just to grease the Blackstone before placing the french toast on it.
- Fresh berries – You don’t have to top your french toast with fresh berries, but it really tastes so yum! Our favorites are blueberries and strawberries.
- Whipped cream – Make your own whipped cream and plop a big dollop on top of a stack of delicious Blackstone french toast.
- Syrup – Grab your favorite syrup to drizzle over your french toast.

How to Make French Toast on Blackstone
Preheat the Blackstone over medium heat, about 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Then, whisk all the eggs, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon together in a large shallow dish. A pie plate is the perfect tool for this!
When the griddle is hot, melt butter on it, and spread it around with a metal spatula.
Dip the thick cut slices of bread into the egg mixture, dredging them on both sides.
Then, place the soaked bread onto the griddle. Cook until golden brown on the bottom, then flip and cook until the opposite side is golden brown. It should take about 2 minutes per side.
Remove from the griddle and place on a plate. Keep them warm while you finish making the other slices, or serve immediately!
What to Serve with French Toast on Blackstone
You can make an entire breakfast on the Blackstone if you want! Pair this french toast with Blackstone bacon or a hash brown omelette on the Blackstone.
This grilled breakfast casserole would also be delicious to eat alongside french toast on the griddle. Or, simply serve some scrambled eggs and oven cooked bacon!
There are so many different topping options for french toast too! Sprinkle some powdered sugar over the top, or top with berries, chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or any other favorite topping.
How to Store Leftover Blackstone French Toast
Yes, you can keep leftover homemade french toast! If you store it correctly, it’ll be just as tasty when reheated.
FRIDGE: Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for 3-4 days. You could also use a Ziplock freezer bag!
FREEZER: Place leftovers in a freezer bag or airtight container with parchment paper in between the slices. Freeze for up to 2 months. Allow to thaw before reheating.
Pop leftovers in the microwave or toaster oven to reheat.
Can I use regular bread?
If you use regular bread, just beware that it falls apart more easily. You won’t want to dredge the bread as long and you’ll need to plop it onto the hot Blackstone really quickly! But yes, you can use regular bread.
Can I cook french toast on an indoor griddle?
Yes! If you do not own a Blackstone, feel free to make this exact recipe and just cook it on a normal electric griddle.
Pro Tips!
- Only dredge the bread long enough for it to get the egg mixture on both sides. Don’t let it soak too long or it will fall apart.
- If you don’t have butter on hand, spray your Blackstone griddle with cooking spray to prevent the french toast from sticking.
- Around fall, add a little nutmeg and clove to your egg mixture for a Fall-inspired take on Blackstone french toast!
We hope you love this recipe as much as we do! Saturday morning breakfasts just got way easier!
