Ingredients for Grilled Shrimp

  • Jumbo raw shrimp – Jumbo size means they won’t fall through the grates! Look for peeled and deveined at your store. If you buy frozen, be sure to leave them in the fridge overnight to thaw completely. Do not use shrimp that has already been cooked.
  • Olive oil – Oil will help the seasoning stick to the shrimp while they are being seasoned.
  • Seasonings – You only need a few pantry staples for this flavorful dish. Grab your garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, salt and ground black pepper.
  • Lemon wedges – Drizzling fresh lemon juice over grilled shrimp adds brightness and boosts the flavors.
  • Chopped parsley – Fresh chopped herbs always make a dish look restaurant quality and parsley pairs nicely with grilled shrimp.

How To Make Grilled Shrimp

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, mix seasonings.
  2. Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel and add them to the bowl. Gently mix until the shrimp is coated with the seasoning.
  3. Place shrimp on the hot grill grates and cook for 3 minutes, or until they have some char. Flip shrimp and cook for another 2 minutes, or just until shrimp are opaque. Take care to not overcook. Smaller shrimp will take less time.
  4. Serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges.

Pro Tip

  • The biggest secret to grilling juicy shrimp is consisten heat, so make sure your grill is preheated before you start to cook them.

Storage and Reheating

Fridge: Store leftover grilled shrimp in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Freezer: Once shrimp has cooled completely, you can freeze them on a baking sheet before storing in an airtight container or freezer bag. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating. Please note that while this method of storing cooked shrimp is totally possible, the texture of the shrimp may change through this process.

To reheat grilled shrimp, I recommend using the stove top. Add a little bit of water and cover the pan with a lid so the shrimp stay juicy. Heat until hot throughout.

How Can I Tell When Shrimp Are Cooked Through?

Shrimp must reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit to be safe to eat. You can use a meat thermometer to check your shrimp on the grill.

Shrimp will also curl into a “C” shape when they are cooked. Another indicator that the shrimp is cooked is the change of color from translucent to opaque.

Toss the shrimp in seasonings and then toss them on the grill for a super quick and easy supper this week. When everyone’s got some place to be but you always have a family meal, this is the perfect way to get dinner on the table quickly and then send them on their way.
