Juicy Steak and Shrimp Kabobs grilled to perfection—tender seasoned steak, and succulent shrimp threaded on skewers for a fast, crowd-pleasing surf-and-turf dinner. Simple prep, quick to cook, and perfect with rice, salad, or grilled corn.

We love a good grilled surf and turf in our house and there really aren’t two foods that pair together quite like steak and shrimp. Grill them on wooden skewers and they take on a world of fun as well. Savory steak seasoning enhances the natural flavors from the steak and shrimp, not to mention the flavor from the grill itself.
Grilling offers the chance to cook up your main dish as well as side veggies so you can do all of your cooking outside while you enjoy some quality time with your family.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe

- From start to finish, shrimp and steak kabobs take less than 30 minutes because they don’t have to sit in a marinade.
- Restaurant-quality grilled surf and turf in the comfort of your own home? You know it! It’s so simple yet feels so fancy.
Ingredients For Steak And Shrimp Kabobs
- Shrimp – Buy fresh or frozen raw, peeled and deveined shrimp for this delicious dish. Keep the tail on for a more restaurant-like presentation or take it off for convenience.
- Steak – For this recipe, we used a sirloin steak because of its lean cut, texture, and thickness. If you want to use a different cut of steak, you can. Keep in mind that all steak cuts offer a different texture once cooked.
- Olive oil – This will help adhere the seasoning to the protein. Use any other oil with a high smoke point like canola oil.
- Steak seasoning – Use your favorite store bought seasoning or make it homemade. I have a delicious Steak Seasoning Recipe that is simple to make up and enhances the flavor of any type of steak.
How To Make Steak And Shrimp Kabobs
- Cut steak into even 1-inch pieces.
- Pat shrimp dry with paper towels.
- Combine shrimp, steak, olive oil and seasoning in a bowl, toss to combine.
- Tuck the steak bites in the “C’’ curve of the shrimp and then thread them onto the skewers.
- Grill over medium-high heat for about 4 minutes per side. Grill until shrimp are opaque and cooked through and steak is done to your preference.
- Serve immediately.

Pro Tips
- Remember to soak the wooden skewers before you make these or they will end up burning on the grill.

If you’re looking for an easy dinner that rocks the flavor as well, you’re going to really love the simplicity and taste of this grilled recipe.

Can I Add Vegetables To The Kabobs?
Absolutely! Just know that you’ll want to cut the vegetables down into smaller pieces because the meat will cook more quickly than the vegetables do. I recommend using onions or peppers as they’re a good, flavorful choice even if they don’t fully get cooked all the way through. Whole or halved mushrooms also taste great added to these surf and turf kabobs.
Dare we say, you can even add pineapple chunks for a little sweetness!
Storage And Reheating
Fridge: Steak and shrimp kabobs are best enjoyed fresh but you can store leftover skewers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Freezer: Freeze leftovers in an airtight container separating layers with parchment paper. Thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating.
Reheat on the grill until hot throughout or quickly in the microwave, but be careful not to overheat because the steak and shrimp can become tough.
How To Serve Steak And Shrimp Kabobs
We love making side dishes along with our main dishes right on the grill. It’s quick and easy plus easier to tend to, and usually there are less dishes. Two popular side vegetable dishes in our house are Grilled Zucchini and Grilled Asparagus. No meal is complete without a starch, so we often add Sweet Potatoes or Baked Potatoes to the grill with these skewers.
One more side dish that our family loves is Grilled Corn on the Cob. We often do a few extras, if there’s room on the grill so we can make Grilled Corn Salad with the leftovers.

I used a Traeger for this recipe, and the temp/time was way off for me. I realistically should have done closer to 425 degrees at this time, because it wound up taking longer than an hour to get these done all the way. It was a start though, and Traegers can act very differently to other grills, so no true complaints!
Courtney says
That is interesting to hear. We use a trawler so the time should be relevant. Glad you were still able to enjoy it!
