PIN IT FOR LATER!

Our easy peach dump cake recipe is definitely one to serve at your next cookout or family get together. Sweet, juicy peaches with cinnamon and a crumbly, buttery cake layer are so simple to throw together. No one will guess how little work is required to make such an impressive dessert. We love to enjoy it while it is still warm, but it’s oh so delicious once it’s cooled, too. This simpler version of a smoked peach cobbler recipe will become a family favorite in no time.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Multi task and throw this on the smoker while you’re eating your supper. It only takes 40 minutes to cook.
  • Make this a day ahead, it can be served warm or at room temperature.
  • You only need 4 ingredients to make this simple dessert that will impress your dinner guests.

Ingredients for Smoked Peach Dump Cake

  • Sliced peaches – Canned, sliced peaches in heavy syrup are the star of the show. If you are unable to get your hands on a can of peaches, try canned pears or apples.
  • Yellow cake mix – Yellow box cake will help the topping to get a nice golden color unlike a white cake mix. But if a white cake mix is all you have, it will still taste great!
  • Ground cinnamon – You can’t have a peach dessert without a dash of cinnamon to add a sweet, warm flavor.
  • Butter – Evenly dispersed on top of the cake mix, butter creates a crumbly top for this dump cake.

How To Make Dump Cake on The Smoker

Pour peaches on bottom of greased foil pan and sprinkle evenly with cinnamon.

Evenly spread out dry cake mix over peaches. Place slabs of butter on top of cake mix evenly.

Place dump cake on smoker for about 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the middle is set.

Remove from the smoker and serve warm or at room temperature.

Storage

Store leftover peach dump cake in an airtight container or covered tightly with foil in the fridge up to 4 days.

Pro Tips

  • This is called a dump cake for a reason. Do not mix the peaches and cake mix! This will affect the final texture of the cake.
  • If you decide you want to bake your peach dump cake in the oven, preheat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for about 40 minutes, or until top is golden brown.

What Type of Wood Should I Use?

There are a variety of good wood chip options for this dessert including cherry, apple, peach, alder, pecan and maple. These are more mild, subtle wood flavors.

Why Is My Cake Still Powdery?

It is important to evenly distribute the slices of butter on top of the cake mix. This will ensure the whole cake is fully moistened. Smoke it until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Peach dump cake just moved up to the top of the list of favorite desserts in our house after trying it on the smoker. Sweet and subtly smoky, this dump cake has really got it all and is so simple to make.
