Why You’ll Love Smash Cinnamon Rolls
- You only need two ingredients to make these delicious smashed Blackstone cinnamon rolls.
- It only takes 10 minutes to make these cinnamon rolls from start to finish! Breakfast is a snap with this super easy recipe.
- There’s nothing homemade in this recipe, so it’s perfect for beginner cooks and those trying to get the hang of cooking on their Blackstone griddle.
Ingredients for Cinnamon Rolls on Blackstone
- Refrigerated cinnamon rolls – I recommend getting name brand cinnamon rolls. They are typically much sweeter and the cinnamon flavor is more prevalent than a store-brand. You can find cinnamon rolls in standing coolers at the grocery store, often near the butter and eggs.
- Butter – Feel free to use either salted or unsalted butter, both will work great!
Helpful Tools
- Parchment paper square
- Baking sheet
- Metal spatula
- Infrared thermometer
- Blackstone or flat top griddle
How to Cook Cinnamon Rolls on Blackstone
Preheat the Blackstone on low heat. Check the temperature with an infrared thermometer, it should be about 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Once the griddle is hot, grease it with butter.
Open the can of cinnamon rolls and separate them. Lay each roll on the Blackstone with plenty of space between them.
Lay a square piece of parchment paper over the top of a cinnamon roll and press down on it with a metal spatula. Peel off the parchment paper and repeat with each roll until they are all smashed.
Cook each smashed cinnamon roll for about 2 minutes on the first side, then flip over. Press the top of each roll down again after flipping.
Cook the cinnamon roll for about 2-3 more minutes until the cinnamon rolls are cooked through.
Remove from the griddle and stack on a plate, platter, or cooling rack.
Heat up the icing that comes in the can of cinnamon rolls and drizzle it across the top of the smashed Blackstone cinnamon rolls.
That’s it! Now eat up!
What to Serve with Cinnamon Rolls on Blackstone
Pair this sweet breakfast treat with some protein! This smoked breakfast fatty or grilled breakfast skillet would be perfect. This sausage breakfast casserole is always a hit too!
Don’t forget the coffee and mimosas!
How to Store Leftover Blackstone Cinnamon Rolls
Whichever way you decide to store your smashed Blackstone cinnamon rolls, be sure to place a square of parchment paper in between them so that they don’t stick together.
FRIDGE: Store leftovers in an airtight container or freezer bag, in the refrigerator, for up to 6 days.
FREEZER: Freeze leftovers in an airtight container or freezer bag for up to 2 months.
To reheat, thaw the leftovers if frozen, and then microwave each cinnamon roll (or pop them in the oven!) until warmed through! Be sure to set some glaze aside while you’re making the cinnamon rolls so that you can add it to reheated leftovers.
Can I use cooking spray on my Blackstone?
Absolutely! You can use cooking spray in place of the butter in this recipe if that’s all you have on hand. Any high-heat spray like butter spray, avocado oil spray, or olive oil spray will work perfectly.
Pro Tips!
- If you don’t have parchment paper, grease your metal spatula with cooking spray or butter to use it to smash the cinnamon rolls.
- Be adventurous and add extra toppings! Strawberries, chocolate chips, sautéed apples, and even homemade whipped cream would be delicious on top of the Blackstone cinnamon rolls.
- Don’t over cook each roll! It only take 2-3 minutes on each side to cook all the way through.
These gooey cinnamon rolls on the Blackstone are absolutely delicious. We’re sure you’re gonna love them!

I do have a question. I do not buy canned Cinnamon Rolls. I make my own with yeast and dough with rising. The recipe I use for the Cinnamon Rolls is a copycat Cinnabon recipe which I would minus the heavy whipping cream if I am able to use this recipe on the Griddle. SO, can I still use that to make on the blackstone?
