Ingredients for Blackstone Pepper Steak

  • Sliced onion – Grab a yellow onion or white onion and slice it up to cook with the other veggies.
  • Green and red bell pepper – Thinly slice a green and red bell pepper for added flavor in this recipe. Yellow bell peppers and orange bell peppers work as well.
  • Olive oil – You’ll need to use an oil with a high smoke point for this recipe. Olive oil is great, avocado oil works, and vegetable oil would also work!
  • Steak – For this recipe, we recommend using round steak or sirloin steak. However, grab whatever cut you can get your hands on.
  • Soy sauce – You’ll need enough soy sauce to marinade the steak and make the glaze, so make sure you have plenty on hand! To control the sodium level in this recipe, use low-sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos.
  • Granulated sugar – Make sure you have enough to use for both the steak and the glaze.
  • Cornstarch – Use cornstarch in the steak marinade and the glaze to thicken up each mixture a bit.
  • Garlic powder – Add some bold flavor to your Blackstone pepper steak with a bit of garlic powder.
  • Salt – Bring out all the flavors of this dish with a pinch of kosher salt or sea salt.
  • Black pepper – For added warmth, season your steak with some black pepper.
  • Honey – This a great way to make the perfect sticky-sweet glaze for this easy Blackstone steak recipe.

What is the best cut of meat to use for pepper steak?

This is mainly up to personal preference, but a hearty cut of steak with plenty of marbling is key. I recommend grabbing round steak or a good cut of sirloin steak. However, you can also use New York strip steaks, ribeye steak, or flank steak. The perfect steak choice is up to you, so grab whatever beef you’d prefer!

Pro Tips for the Best Blackstone Pepper Steak Recipe

  • Make sure you slice the steak in even bite-sized pieces so that they all finish cooking at the same time. The same goes for the veggies too!
  • Let your steaks rest outside of the fridge for at least 30 minutes before slicing and cooking.
  • Want a little extra depth to the sweetness of the glaze? Mix in a bit of brown sugar instead of white sugar.

What to Serve with Blackstone Pepper Steak

This Blackstone pepper steak doesn’t necessarily need many side dishes, it’s amazing simply served over some white rice! However, you can totally serve your favorite dishes with it if you want.

Serve with some cheesy grilled garlic bread, or go the veggie route and serve it with some grilled asparagus or grilled green beans. Want to serve this over something other than rice? Egg noodles and mashed potatoes work great!

How to Store Leftover Pepper Steak

Allow your leftovers to cool completely, then transfer to an airtight container or freezer safe storage bag.

FRIDGE: Store leftover pepper steak in the fridge for 3-4 days.

FREEZER: You can freeze leftover steak, but keep in mind that the stir-fry veggies won’t be as crispy and fresh once thawed and reheated.

How to Reheat Pepper Steak

For the best results, reheat Blackstone pepper steak on the stovetop over medium-high with a little bit of oil in a skillet. A cast iron skillet works great, but a simple nonstick skillet will do the trick as well. You can reheat leftovers in the microwave in a pinch, but the steak may be a bit chewy after reheating.

Why is my pepper steak chewy?

If you find that you Blackstone pepper steak is chewy, a few different things may have gone wrong. It is important that you do not overcook your steak and that you use a high-quality beef for best results. The texture of your pepper steak can turn out really tough if it is overcooked, but it’s also a problem when undercooked.

If you find that you’re not sure if the steak is done yet, stack a few pieces together and check the internal temperature with an instant-read thermometer.

Make sure you are also slicing the steak against the grain to ensure it is as tender as possible. You should always cook pepper steak over medium heat as well! Too high, and the steak can easily be overcooked. But a low heat won’t cook the steak fast enough.
