PIN IT FOR LATER!

If you’ve ever wondered how those hibachi cooks make the most amazing fried rice, then you’ve got to check out this recipe! Steak fried rice is just as good as the stuff you’d get at those expensive fancy restaurants, just without the price tag. Of course, we don’t know how to make the onion volcano or crack an egg on a spatula, but the food sure is good!

Blackstone chicken stir fry was one of our favorites when we first tried it. So we set out to make the rest of our hibachi favorites into Blackstone griddle recipes. Now we have delicious Asian inspired dishes that are really easy to make for dinner and always curb that hankering for take out. There’s so many reasons to love this dish!

Why You’ll Love Blackstone Steak Fried Rice

  • Clean-up is really easy! You’ll only need to clean a few different kitchen tools and then clean the Blackstone. It’s one of our highlights of cooking on the Blackstone.
  • This is a fantastic way to repurpose leftover rice and reduce food waste. Day old rice works best for fried rice anyway, so put it to good use!
  • Hibachi fried rice on Blackstone is ready in under a half hour. Perfect for busy weeknights when dinner is the last thing on your mind.

Ingredients for Blackstone Steak Fried Rice

  • Sesame oil – This has a very distinct flavor that is essential to good fried rice, so don’t substitute it with something else.
  • Canola oil – Use canola oil or another high heat oil to fry the rice.
  • Diced onion – Yellow onion and white onion work best in this recipe.
  • Minced garlic – Freshly minced garlic will make this Blackstone fried rice taste like it’s from that expensive hibachi restaurant!
  • Frozen peas and carrots – Grab a bag of these frozen mixed veggies in the freezer aisle of the grocery store.
  • Sirloin steak – Cut the steak into ½” pieces so it can be evenly distributed throughout the fried rice.
  • Cold white rice – Day old rice is the best way to go when it comes to making fried rice that isn’t mushy.
  • Large eggs – Whisk three large eggs that you will then cook on the flat top griddle and toss with the other fried rice ingredients.
  • Reduced sodium soy sauce – You can also use coconut aminos to keep the sodium down in this recipe.
  • Sliced green onions – This is optional, but they make the best garnish.

How to Make Blackstone Steak Fried Rice

Heat your Blackstone griddle to medium heat and pour oil on it. Once hot, add diced steak to the griddle top.

Brown the steak, and then add 1 Tablespoon soy sauce and a tablespoon sesame oil, tossing steak frequently. Once done, move the bite size pieces of steak off to the side of the griddle to keep warm.

Add more oil to the griddle and then the vegetables. Drizzle with a tablespoon soy sauce on top and cook until the vegetables are tender. Move those off to the side of the griddle as well.

Next, add cold rice to the hot griddle and mix in 1 Tablespoon soy sauce, garlic and 1 Tablespoon sesame oil, stir well. Once the rice is hot, move it off to the side of the griddle.

Pour whisked eggs onto the hot griddle and scramble. When they are done, move the steak, veggies and rice from the side of the griddle to the center and mix all the ingredients together. Add 1 Tablespoon of soy sauce and mix to combine.

Remove from heat, garnish with green onions if desired and serve immediately.

How to Store Leftover Steak Fried Rice

Transfer leftover hibachi steak fried rice to an airtight container and allow to cool completely.

FRIDGE: Store the leftover fried rice in an airtight storage container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

FREEZER: Transfer to a freezer safe container and store in the freezer for 2-3 months. Allow to thaw before reheating.

How to Reheat Blackstone steak fried rice

Reheat in the microwave, or on the stovetop, until heated through. You may need to add an additional splash of oil!

What can I add to steak fried rice?

There are so many things you can add to an easy fried rice recipe. Here’s a few tasty options:

  • mushrooms
  • broccoli
  • green or red bell pepper
  • bean sprouts
  • celery
  • sesame seeds, garnish

Can you cook fried rice on a griddle?

Absolutely! In fact, it’s quite similar to the process used in a hibachi restaurant. Cooking things like fried rice and stir fry on a flat top griddle makes it really easy to evenly cook the food and ensure that the flavors are even throughout the dish too. It’s our favorite way to cook fried rice!

What to Serve with Steak Fried Rice

This dish can be served on its own or alongside some yummy side dishes. Air fryer frozen egg rolls are our favorite side, and Asian ramen salad would be tasty too. Some veggies like grilled cauliflower and grilled zucchini are also great.

Finish off your meal with an irresistible sweet treat like smoked apples or grilled peaches.

Pro Tips for the Best Blackstone Steak Fried Rice

  • We highly recommend that you don’t use fresh cooked rice. Hot rice in this dish will just become mushy after being stir fried. Use cold rice for the best results!
  • To save on prep time, you can use leftover steak. Just heat it on the griddle and it’s good to go.
  • Make sure you cut your steak into small enough pieces that there are bite sized chunks throughout the entirety of your fried rice!
