Best Hamburger Recipe in hand

PIN IT FOR LATER!

This homemade hamburger patty recipe is so easy and the ingredients are already in your pantry. The end result is a juicy, homemade classic burger recipe that I might dare to call the Best Hamburger Recipe! In our house, we are grilling burgers all summer long and this recipe is fool-proof and easy enough for busy weeknights. The best grilled hamburgers are not out of reach! Plus you can cook these inside on the stovetop on a rainy or freezing cold day.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • This patty requires a few pantry staples that make it the best burger ever.
  • It’s juicy, tender and bursting with flavor that cooks perfectly every single time.
  • Use an 80/20 ground beef mixture to achieve the juicy, delicious burger of your dreams.

Ingredients For Grilled Hamburgers

  • Ground hamburger – Make sure the beef is 80% lean so you get the juiciest hamburger. Fat = flavor!
  • Egg – Use an egg to bind the hamburger patties.
  • Seasonings – Season salt and garlic pepper are all you need for major flavor.

Ideas For Burger Toppings

  • Cheese (add this during the last minute of grilling)
  • Tomato
  • Lettuce
  • Sliced onion
  • Cooked mushrooms
  • Pickles
  • Bacon
  • Sauces like ketchup, mustard, mayo and relish.

How To Make Hamburger Patties For Grilling

  1. In a mixing bowl combine all ingredients. Split into 1/4’s. Form each portion loosely into a burger about 3/4 inch thick and make a depression in the center with your thumb to keep burgers from swelling on the grill.
  2. Grill the first side of each burger patty on a preheated grill for about 3 minutes or until golden brown and slightly charred. Flip over burgers. Cook an additional 6 minutes or until it reaches desired doneness. A well-done burger will reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. While burgers are cooking, butter the insides of the buns. Place buns, butter side down, on grill grates to toast. Remove from grill when they are lightly toasted.
  4. Remove burgers from grill place, on toasted bun and top with lettuce, onion and tomato or your favorite toppings!

Pro Tips

  • Higher fat beef will shrink more on the grill.
  • Use a light touch when combining seasoning with the ground beef, if you mix too much you will be left with dense and heavy burgers.
  • If you have time, let your prepared patties sit in the fridge for several hours to help the flavor mingle. Separate the patties with my favorite hamburger patty paper.
  • When you form the patties, wet your hands to keep the beef from sticking to them.
  • Make sure you don’t cook your patties over high heat. A high heat will burn the outside of the burger and the inside will not be done. You want to cook them over a medium-low to medium heat to keep burgers juicy.
  • Do not press down on your burgers while they are cooking. You will lose fat and flavor!
  • Allow burgers to rest for at least one minute so the juices can redistribute.

Storage And Reheating

Fridge: Once burgers are cooled, store leftovers in an airtight container for

Freezer: You can store grilled, cooled hamburgers in the freezer if you just have too many leftovers. Wrap each patty individually in plastic wrap before storing in. a freezer bag.

I also love to make up a bunch of these hamburger patties and then simply stack them between my favorite hamburger patty paper so when I’m dying for a good hamburger they are handy.

To reheat burgers, put them back on the grill at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10-15 minutes. You can easily reheat covered on the stovetop or in the microwave, too. Add a bit of water to the pan or plate to create a bit of steam so the burgers don’t dry out.

What Temperature Do I Grill Hamburgers To?

The United States Department of Agriculture recommends burgers reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure all areas of the food have reached a temperature of at least 140 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. If you are looking for a medium-well burger, cook it until 150 degrees Fahrenheit. E. coli is killed at 155 degrees Fahrenheit, so the USDA sets the minimum safe temperature for ground beef at 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Use an instant-read thermometer to help you monitor the internal temperature of your hamburgers.

How To Cook Burgers Indoors

Craving a burger in the middle of winter or maybe you don’t have a grill? Simply prepare these on a grill pan or cast iron pan over high heat on the stove top. They are still delicious and juicy! If you use a cast iron pan, heat oil in the pan before cooking your burgers.

This quick and easy hamburger recipe will be your new go-to for grilling all summer long. Make a big batch when you’re hosting a party or freeze some for another time, you’ll be glad you did!

How To Serve Grilled Hamburgers

I’m sure you’ll agree, the best side for a hamburger is none other than crispy, salty French fries! But of course, we need a nice portion of greens, too so load up your hamburger with lettuce, tomato and onion and whip up a fresh green salad.

For bigger cookouts, we love making potato salad and classic Italian pasta salad, too.
