How to Make Blackstone Buttermilk Pancakes

Combine dry ingredients and sift in a large bowl. In separate bowl beat the egg until light and fluffy. Then add milk and butter, and stir to combine.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Let pancake batter rest while you heat the Blackstone griddle.

Lightly grease the griddle with butter and preheat to medium heat, about 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Use an infrared temperature gun to check the temperature. You can also sprinkle water on the surface of the griddle and if water “dances” across the top it’s hot enough.

Using a ⅓ cup measuring cup scoop batter for each pancake onto the preheated griddle, spacing the pancakes a few inches apart.

When bubbles form on the top of the pancake, about 1-2 minutes, it is time to flip the pancakes.

Flip the pancakes over using a metal spatula and cook the other side until it is golden brown.. Do NOT push down on the pancake or flip them multiple times. This will prevent you from having a light and fluffy pancake.

Serve with warm butter, maple syrup or fruit for topping. Enjoy!

Does pancake batter need to rest?

Yes, you should let the buttermilk pancake batter for a few minutes while the Blackstone preheats. It will allow all of the ingredients to settle and help thicken the batter to make the best pancakes!

How to Store Blackstone Buttermilk Pancakes

Allow pancakes to cool to room temperature and then transfer to an airtight container or zip top plastic bags. Place a sheet of parchment paper between layers to keep the pancakes from sticking together.

FRIDGE: Store leftover pancakes in the refrigerator 2 to 3 days. You can reheat in the toaster oven, on a griddle, or on the stovetop in a skillet.

FREEZER: I recommend using freezer storage bags to separate the pancakes into individual servings to freeze. Freeze for up to 3 months. You can reheat in the toaster from frozen or thaw and reheat!

Can you use butter on a Blackstone?

Absolutely! For the most delicious pancakes, spread butter over griddle top and then drop the pancake batter on the hot griddle to cook. The butter will keep the pancakes from sticking while they cook.

What to Serve with Blackstone Buttermilk Pancakes

These yummy buttermilk pancakes pair beautifully with all of your breakfast favorites! Serve it with a smoked breakfast fatty, some egg muffins, or simply thick-cut bacon and scrambled eggs. This smoked candied bacon is a fun side dish too.

Blackstone pancakes go wonderfully with a Blackstone omelette or a serving of breakfast sausage casserole too! And of course, a heaping drizzle of maple syrup on top of a heavenly stack of fluffy pancakes is breakfast goals! You can serve these with any and all of your favorite pancake toppings too.

Pro Tips for the Best Blackstone Buttermilk Pancakes

  • This Blackstone pancake recipe is great for meal prep! You can make a batch ahead of time and then freeze and reheat as needed. I recommend separating into individual portions to make it easy to reheat.
  • Don’t overmix your pancake batter or you could end up with tough and chewy pancakes.
  • If you decide to add extra add-ins to your pancakes, just be sure not to overload the batter so that the pancakes cook evenly.
