Steak Kabobs are one of my favorite items to grill. I love that they come together quickly and cook quickly. They cook faster than a whole steak so they are perfect if you are craving steak, but short on time during the week.

This kabob recipe combines delicious, tender steak with vegetables. I use a simple and flavorful steak marinade – it’s a delicious dinner hot off the grill! The meat is tender, juicy and bursting with flavor. You can include your favorite vegetables like onions, peppers, zucchini and squash!

These easy Vegetable and Steak Kabobs will have you wishing you doubled the recipe! Gone before you know it!

Ingredients for Steak Kabobs

  • Red cooking wine
  • Olive oil
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Italian seasoning
  • Garlic powder
  • Seasoned salt
  • Pepper
  • Dried parsley flakes
  • Top sirlion steak, cut into 1 inch cubes
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Onion
  • Green pepper
  • Summer squash
  • Zucchini

What Steak is Best for Kabobs?

Splurge on a better quality steak so they are tender not tough and chewy. I recommend a top sirloin steak or New York Strip! Otherwise Tenderloin steaks cuts would work too.

Stay away from any steak that is cut thing as it will cook to quickly.

Steps to Prepare Steak Kabobs

  • Make the Steak Marinade – In a small bowl mix wine, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, seasoned salt, pepper and parsley flakes. Pour half into a large resealable plastic bag. Add steak to the mixture and mix. Place remaining marinade in another plastic resealable bag and set aside.
  • Prep the Vegetables – Cut vegetables, except tomatoes, into 1 inch pieces.  Add vegetables to marinade you set aside. Turn to coat.
  • Marinate – Place both bags in refrigerator for at lease 2 hours.
  • Make the Kabobs – Drain and discard marinade from bag with beef in it. Drain marinade from vegetable bag, KEEPING MARINADE for basting while grilling. On eight metal or soaked wooden skewers, alternately thread beef and vegetables.
  • Grill – Coat grill rack with cooking spray before starting the grill. Heat grill to medium heat, about 350 degrees. Places kabobs on grill and grill covered, over medium heat for 10-15 minutes or until meat reaches desired doneness, basting frequently with reserved marinade and turning occasionally. I turned and basted about every five minutes.

You can also make these on the stove top in a grill pan!

Don’t forget the Grilled Cheesy Garlic Pull Apart Bread to serve with it! And to finish the meal, serve up Grilled Apple Dump Cake – the perfect sweet ending for any meal!

Can you cook steak kabobs in the oven?

Yes, you can cook steak kabobs in the oven if you don’t have a grill.

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Line a baking sheet with foil and spray it with non-stick spray.
  • Place kabobs on sheet pan and cook about 10-13 minutes or until the internal temperature of the steak is 145 degrees F for medium doneness.

Expert Tips!

  • Don’t over cook the steak. You splurged on that great cut of meat don’t ruin it by over cooking it! Serve these rare or medium rare.
  • Cut your meat evenly. This helps the steak cook at the same rate.
  • Marinate for at least 3 hours. This allows the steak to soak up those great flavors and tenderize the meat.
  • Start with a clean grill. Pretty basic, but don’t forget this step.
  • Before you place the kabobs on your grill have it piping hot. This will help you achieve a nice char on the kabobs. You’ll know it’s time to turn the kabobs when they release easily from the grill.
  • Remember to baste these steak kabobs every time you turn them.
  • Remember to soak your skewers before you plan on making these! If you tend to forget like me invest in some metal skewers.
  • Use any other vegetables you have on hand. This is a great way to clean out the refrigerator. We love parboiled potatoes, mushrooms, onions and more!
