Helpful Tools
How to Cut Chicken Wings
- If you have a whole chicken wing you will want to cut the wing and drumette apart.
- First, slip the chicken wing over so the skin side is down and you can see the joints easily. Locate the first ridge between the drums and wingette portions with your fingers.
- Place your knife beside this ridge and parallel to the long side of the drumette. Cut all the way through to separate. Your knife should easily cut through it.
- Next, find the second ridge between the wingette and tip portion. Cut all the way through this joint and discard of the tip.
How to Make Blackstone Chicken Wings
- Preheat your Blackstone grill over medium-high heat, approximately 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Then pat the wings dry with paper towels to remove as much excess moisture as possible. Once dry, place the wings into a large mixing bowl.
- Add the olive oil and dry rub to the bowl and stir until all the wings are coated with the BBQ Rub.
- Melt butter on the griddle and place the chicken wings directly on the top of the melted butter. Let the chicken sit for 2-3 minutes to brown it.
- Flip the wings and toss with the butter to coat it as much as possible. Then allow the chicken to brown on the opposite side for about 2-3 more minutes.
- Reduce the heat on the Blackstone grill to medium, around 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and then cover with cooking dome. Cook for 10-15 more minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Remove from the grill, and serve with your favorite dipping sauces!
How do you keep chicken from sticking to Blackstone?
In order to keep chicken from sticking to the surface of the griddle, you must make sure there is some sort of cooking oil coating the surface before adding the meat. You can use butter, canola oil, vegetable oil, olive oil, avocado oil, or anything else that you have on hand.
It is recommended to use something with a high smoke point for best results. You should also cook at the right temperature. If you use too high of heat, it can cause chicken to stick to the Blackstone.
How to Store Leftover Chicken Wings
Allow wings to cool completely and then place them into an airtight container or freezer safe bag.
Refrigerator: Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Freezer: You can also freeze leftover wings for up to three months by placing them in a freezer safe container.
How to Reheat Chicken Wings
Oven: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place leftover chicken wings on a sheet pan lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper in a single layer. Bake for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until a instant read meat thermometer reads 165 degrees Fahrenheit in the thickest part of the wing.
Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray the chicken wings with cooking spray to make them crispy, place in air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for about 10 minutes or until a instant read meat thermometer reads 165 degrees Fahrenheit in the thickest part of the wing.
Microwave: This is our least favorite method because the wings steam instead of getting crispy. Place wings on a damp paper towel lined plate and then top them with another damp paper towel. Microwave on high for 2-3 minutes.
What to Serve with Chicken Wings
Don’t forget the sauce! Some creamy ranch dressing dip is a must, but I love tangy blue cheese dressing dip too. Of course, barbecue sauce or honey bbq pairs wonderfully with Blackstone griddle chicken wings too.
Serve this dish alongside other favorites like smoked potato skins or grilled foil packet potatoes. It’s great with some BBQ baked beans and smoked mac and cheese too.
Classic sides like celery sticks and carrots are perfect too!
