Crispy bacon on the grill is perfect for summer! Grilled Bacon is so easy to make and is perfect for eating for breakfast, adding to salads, sandwiches and so much more. That grilled flavor can’t be beat.
This grilled bacon recipe is one you will be sure to use all summer long. Whether you are feeding breakfast to a crowd or getting started on meal prep, this bacon on the grill will be a lifesaver! Perfectly crispy to your liking, this grilled bacon will make meal time a breeze.
Can you grill bacon?
Yes, and I love to grill it for a few reasons:
- Less mess: When you cook bacon on the stove, the grease splatters and makes a mess. You don’t have that problem with the grill. It’s so much easier!
- It cooks faster: It doesn’t take long at all – about 10 minutes depending on how crispy you like it.
- You can grill a big batch: It’s a great way to cook a big batch of bacon at once for meal prep. Once it’s cooked, just keep it in the fridge to add to your favorite dishes.
- Grill marks: I love the way it looks with the grill marks!
Bacon is so easy to grill, you’ll want to do it this way from now on! If you don’t have a grill, check out how to cook bacon on a Blackstone griddle.
Ingredients for Grilled Bacon
- Bacon – thick cut will give the best results when grilled. Thinner bacon slices might fall through the grates or burn quickly.
- Oil – a neutral tasting, high-smoke point oil like vegetable oil or canola oil is a good choice for prepping the grill grates
Flavor Ideas for Grilled Bacon
Make plain bacon or fancy it up with some flavor variations!
- BBQ Bacon: Just before the bacon is done grilling, brush it with your favorite BBQ sauce.
- Brown Sugar Bacon: Sprinkle some dark brown sugar over the bacon just before it’s done to add a sweet caramel flavor.
- Seasoned Bacon: Add some of our favorite BBQ rub to give the bacon even more flavor!
Helpful Tools
- Grill
- Grill tongs
- Paper towel
- Blackstone griddle

How to cook bacon on the grill
- Heat one side of the grill to medium-high heat. Once it’s heated, use a paper towel moistened with the oil to oil the grates.
- Lay the bacon strips on the non-direct heat side of the grill. Adjust the heat on the other side to medium-low.
- Cook the bacon until it reaches your desired crispiness. Turn them while they grill so they crisp up evenly.
How Do I Keep Grilled Bacon from Burning?
Using thick-cut bacon will help to keep your grilled bacon from burning compared to thinner, regular bacon.
I also recommend turning the bacon on the grill often so the strips of bacon cook evenly.
Pro Tips
- Don’t forget to use thick-cut bacon! It works best for grilling.
- Grill over indirect heat. This means that you should only light one side of your grill and place the bacon on the other side to cook it. If you grill bacon over the flames, it will burn.
- Keep an eye on it! Depending on how crispy you like your bacon, the cooking time can be short. Don’t leave it unattended because it can go from perfectly crispy to burnt in no time.
How to Use Grilled Bacon
What I love about this recipe is that you can make a big batch and have cooked bacon on hand during the week to add to your meals.
Breakfast: Add it to omelets, scrambled eggs, pancakes, a breakfast sandwich or even Breakfast Sliders.
Lunch: Add grilled bacon to your favorite sandwiches, use it as a soup garnish, or add it to salads! I love it with my grilled chicken salad.
Dinner: Crumble it up to use as a pizza topping, top your burgers with it, stir it into some mac and cheese or crumble it onto our grilled caesar salad.
How to Store Grilled Bacon
Line an airtight container with a paper towel and add the grilled bacon. Keep in the fridge up to a week.
Aren’t going to get through all of your grilled bacon in a week? No sweat! You can also store cooked bacon in the freezer. Take it out and thaw in the fridge or heat it as you need it.
How to reheat grilled bacon
Reheat grilled bacon by stove top, in the oven or in the microwave. The longer you heat it, the crispier it will become.
I know you will love grilled bacon once you give it a try! Cook this while you meal prep and enjoy it all week long!
