PIN IT FOR LATER!

I know what you’re thinking – green beans on the grill? Yes! The grill adds such great flavor to this delicious veggie, I know your whole family will love it. Fork-tender and simply seasoned with garlic, salt and pepper, grilled green beans are sure to be a hit. Green beans are such a simple veggie with so much flavor to offer.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Grilled green beans are quick to prepare with pantry staples. You only need 5 ingredients, including the beans.
  • Easily cook your whole meal on the grill. Time it perfectly and cook the barbecued green beans while your protein rests.
  • No more mushy beans! On the grill, these beans turn out fork tender with just enough bite.

Ingredients for Grilled Green Beans

  • Fresh green beans – Fresh green beans are typically in season from May to October. I do not recommend using frozen beans as they will not be tender crisp. You can also use wax beans (yellow) or royal burgundy beans, which start purple and turn green as they cook!
  • Olive oil – This will help the seasonings to stick to the beans and to char them. Use vegetable or canola oil in it’s place if you like, but we love the flavor olive oil adds.
  • Seasonings – Garlic powder, kosher salt and ground black pepper.

How To Grill Green Beans

  1. Wash and trim the green beans. Pat them dry with a towel.
  2. In a bowl, mix green beans with olive oil, garlic powder, kosher salt and ground black pepper.
  3. Place the green beans directly on the grill grates and grill for about 4 to 5 minutes per side, until charred and tender. If you have a grill basket, place the beans in the basket and grill for 12 to 14 minutes until tender, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove the beans from the grill. Serve immediately.

Pro Tips

  • Drizzle beans with fresh lemon juice on the serving platter to add some brightness.
  • If your beans are small and you are worried about them falling through the grates and you don’t have a grill basket, try cooking them in foil.

Storage and Reheating

Fridge: Store leftover beans in an airtight container for up to 3-5 days.

Freezer: Freeze beans in a single layer on a baking sheet and then transfer to a freezer bag. These can be reheated from frozen. Thawed grilled beans won’t have the same crisp texture as fresh.

Reheat on the stove top or in the microwave.

Tender crisp green beans with the perfect char flavor will be a hit on the dinner table tonight. Double up the batch, because these are going to disappear!
