PIN IT FOR LATER!

What’s better than a burger AND better than a taco? A smash burger taco! This is the best smashburger recipe to try it out with! The best of both worlds, combined into one incredible dish. A crispy taco loaded with perfectly seasoned beef, and topped with a tangy homemade burger sauce. You’re essentially getting a Big Mac in taco form! Amazing, right? We’ve even figured out how to make smash burger breakfast tacos.

Blackstone smashburger tacos are a great meal to make when you’re short on time, too. You’ll have dinner ready in just 20 minutes. Have an easy side like crock pot mac and cheese going during the day, and dinner is done with minimal effort required. Smash burger tacos will be a family favorite for sure!

What is a Smash Burger?

If you have never tried a smash burger, your life is about to change! Smash burgers are a super popular style of grilled hamburger. You take a ball of ground beef and smash it super thin on your griddle so that the end result is a deliciously crispy burger patty. These tacos really take it to another level.

Why You’ll Love Smash Burger Tacos

  • Blackstone recipes like smash burger tacos have a really easy clean-up process! Just take care of cleaning the Blackstone and that’s really all you have to worry about.
  • This recipe is easy to double or triple to make as many tacos as you need. Make an extra large batch and serve them at parties, they’re definitely a crowd favorite!
  • You can adapt smash tacos with any seasoning, any toppings, and any sauces you want. Make them your own in whatever way you’d like!

Ingredients for Blackstone Smash Burger Tacos

  • Soft tortillas – Flour tortillas are typically the best option for Big Mac tacos, but you can use corn tortillas if you prefer.
  • American cheese – Big Macs always use American cheese, so this will mimic the flavor the best. Feel free to swap it out for other cheese though! Cheddar cheese, mozzarella and provolone would taste delicious.
  • Ground beef – Use lean ground beef for best results. 93/7 beef will keep your tacos from being too greasy.
  • Beef seasoning – We may be biased, but our Gimme Some Grilling Beef Seasoning is to die for. The flavor is just incredible! However, you can use anything you have on hand or even make your own seasoning.
  • Butter – Salted and unsalted butter will both work well. You just need it to grease the Blackstone so that the smashed tacos don’t stick.
  • Salt and pepper – Throw a little salt and pepper into the mix, along with the beef seasoning.
  • Burger sauce – Here is everything you need to make the tastiest homemade burger sauce ever.
    • Mayonnaise
    • Yellow mustard
    • Ketchup
    • Dried minced onion
    • Garlic powder
    • White vinegar

Helpful Tools

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Blackstone griddle
  • Blackstone metal spatula
  • Mixing bowl

How to Cook Smash Burger Tacos on blackstone

Before preparing the smash burgers, make the burger sauce. Mix together all of the ingredients in a small bowl or jar and refrigerate while preparing tacos.

Prepare the toppings you plan to use, then cover them in plastic wrap and store in the fridge until the tacos are ready.

Next, preheat the Blackstone griddle to medium-high heat. If you don’t have a Blackstone, you can use any flat-top griddle or a 12″ cast iron skillet.

Divide the lean ground beef into 4 equal parts. Spread one section evenly over a tortilla, making sure the whole surface is covered. Repeat with every other tortilla and then place them on a tray until ready to cook.

Season each uncooked taco with beef seasoning.

Place about half of the butter onto the preheated griddle and spread it around. Place smash burger tacos, meat side down, on the greased cooking surface.

Cook for 3-4 minutes, then flip each taco and top the meat with a slice of cheese. Cook for an additional 3 minutes until the hamburger meat is cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

After the big mac tacos are fully cooked, remove them from the griddle and add burger sauce and desired toppings.

Serve while hot and enjoy!

What to Serve with Smash Burger Tacos

This Blackstone taco recipe goes well with just about anything. We love to make a fresh batch of smoked salsa to eat with our tacos, and grilled corn salad goes great too. French fries are the perfect easy side dish to serve!

These smoked potato skins or seasoned smoked potatoes always go over well alongside big mac tacos.

Serve up veggies like grilled asparagus or grilled corn on the cob if you’d like a healthy side dish option. And you can always simply make baked potatoes on the grill since they pair well with anything!

Whip up a skinny margarita to turn these Blackstone smash burger tacos into a party!

How to Store Leftover Blackstone Smash Burger Tacos

Leftover tacos will store best without any toppings or sauce. Place into an airtight container and store in the fridge for 2-3 days.

Leftover burger sauce can be stored in airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

How to Reheat Smash Tacos

To reheat, place in the oven or air fryer. We do not recommend microwaving leftovers because the tortilla will get really soggy. Do not freeze any leftover Blackstone smash burger tacos.

Can I make these Smash tacos gluten free?

Yes! The only change you will need to make to this recipe is to use your favorite corn tortillas instead of flour. They might not stay together as well as a flour tortilla, but they will definitely do the trick!

What toppings can I use on smash burger tacos?

Sliced tomatoes, onions, shredded iceberg lettuce, and dill pickles are the most common toppings. However, you can add any toppings you want! Use another section of the Blackstone griddle to make grilled onions to top your burger tacos with.

Shredded cheese and bacon would also be quite tasty. You could add a little kick with some spicy mayo (simply mayo and hot sauce) or sliced jalapeños too.

Pro Tips!

  • Make your own homemade flour tortillas for an even better taste and fresher flavor.
  • Save some calories and use ground turkey instead of ground beef!
  • Although you can store leftovers, this Blackstone taco recipe is best eaten fresh. They’re super easy to make, so just whip up another batch when you’re ready for more!
