Ingredients for Jalapeno Popper Stuffed Burgers

  • Hamburger buns – Buy some fluffy and fresh hamburger buns, toast them up and then serve these juicy burgers on them.
  • Cream cheese – They key to these incredible stuffed burger patties is cream cheese!
  • Ground beef – We do not recommend using lean ground beef because your burgers can get dried out if you use beef that is too lean.
  • Bacon – Make some crispy strips of bacon and then crumble them up to mix into these jalapeno popper stuffed burgers.
  • Jalapeno – Dice up some jalapeño peppers to mix into the burger mixture.
  • Sharp cheddar cheese – For the most melty and gooey results, shred your own sharp cheddar cheese off of a block.
  • Beef seasoning – We’re partial to our Gimme Some Grilling Beef Seasoning, but you can use anything else that you have on hand.

How to Make Jalapeno Popper Stuffed Burgers

  1. Combine cream cheese, shredded cheese, and diced jalapeño in a medium mixing bowl. Stir well to combine.
  2. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and beef seasoning well.
  3. Preheat your grill, Blackstone or skillet to a medium-high heat. While it preheats, divide the ground beef mixture into 12 equally sized balls, then press them out into patties.
  4. Top 6 of the patties with the cream cheese mixture and then place a plain patty on top. Seal the edges well so that the cream cheese filling doesn’t leak out.
  5. Place the stuffed burger patties onto the preheated grill and then cook for 8-9 minutes. Flip and cook for 8-9 more minutes on the other side, or until the burgers reach a safe internal temperature.
  6. Pull the jalapeño popper stuffed burgers off the grill and let them rest for a few minutes. Then serve on buns and enjoy!

How to Store Jalapeno Popper Stuffed Burgers

Allow the patties to cool completely and then transfer to an airtight container or wrap individually in plastic wrap or aluminum foil.

FRIDGE: Store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

FREEZER: After wrapping individually, transfer to a freezer bag. Store in the freezer for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw before reheating.

Do I need to remove the seeds from jalapenos?

For stuffed burgers, I recommend removing as many seeds as your can before dicing the peppers. The seeds could end up in the burger and may make a funny texture if there’s too many.

Best Burger Toppings

Top your jalapeno cream cheese stuffed burgers with any and all of your favorite burger toppings. Some of our favorites are:

  • onions
  • tomato
  • lettuce
  • caramelized onions
  • ketchup
  • bacon
  • sliced cheese
  • mayo
  • mustard
  • burger sauce

What to Serve with Stuffed Jalapeno Pepper Burgers

These smoked potato skins are one of our favorite things to serve with these burgers, and grilled foil packet potatoes are great too. Bacon wrapped asparagus and grilled cauliflower are a fun side dish with these burgers. Or make some Blackstone smashed potatoes.

Make things extra spicy with smoked jalapeño popper mac and cheese as a side. Need a health side? Then make these easy smoked vegetables.

Pro Tips for the Best Burgers

  • Use an instant read meat thermometer to get a quick and accurate read on the internal temperature of the burgers.
  • Add more flavor to the patties by mixing in some chopped green onions.
  • It is really important that you seal the patties well so that the cream cheese mixture doesn’t burst out the sides while cooking.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds 85% lean ground beef
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • ¾ cups sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 4-5 strips bacon cooked crisp and crumbled (½ cup bacon bits)
  • 1 jalapeno seeded and diced small
  • 3 teaspoons Beef seasoning
  • 6 Hamburger buns

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar cheese and jalapeno. Mix well and set aside.
  • In another medium sized bowl mix together the ground beef and beef seasoning until combined.
  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. About 350 degrees Fahrenheit. You can also cook these on the Blackstone, Smoker or in a heavy duty flat bottomed skillet or cast iron pan on the stove top.
  • Divide the ground beef mixture into 12 equally sized balls. Then make them into patties. Make sure the circumference is the same. Add 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture to 6 of the patties. Top the patties with the cream cheese mixture on them with one of the plain patties and seal edges well. If you don't seal the edges tight the cream cheese filling will leak out.
  • Place burgers on the grill and cook until one side is brown and seared for 8-9 minutes. Flip and continue cooking until desired internal temperature is reached about another 8-9 minutes.
  • Serve on buns with toppings of choice.
