If you’re looking for a new fun game-day recipe or quick and easy meal, you’re going to love this simple recipe. We love throwing brats and burgers on the smoker, but these smoked sausages are so simple too.

You can eat these on a bun with your favorite topping or even slice them up to use in different recipes. It would add loads of flavor to gumbo or pasta! Just grab your favorite andouille sausage, kielbasa, or any other type of sausage and throw it on the smoker. This is just as good as the sausage you can get at smokehouses! But the best part is that you don’t ever have to leave your own house.

  • Sausages – We like to grab kielbasa or andouille sausage, but any kind will work! You can use chicken sausage or turkey sausage if you’d like something a little more lean. If you want to eat these on a hotdog bun, then make sure the link length will fit on a bun. You can also slice them up after they are smoked to mix into a dish.

Toppings for Smoked Sausage on a Bun

Add some ingredients to your shopping list to have tasty toppings that you can load onto your smoked sausage. Some of our favorites are:

  • caramelized onions
  • saurkraut
  • mustard
  • ketchup
  • BBQ sauce
  • dill relish or sweet relish
  • cheese
  • sautéed peppers

How to Make Smoked Sausage

Heat your wood pellet smoker to 225 degrees Fahrenheit and then place each of the sausages on the grill grates about an inch or so apart.

Smoked for 1-1 ½ hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Once cooked, serve on a bun with any of your favorite toppings.

How to Store Leftover Smoked Sausage

FRIDGE: Place the links of smoked sausage into an airtight container or plastic bag. You can also wrap them individually in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Store in the fridge for up to a week.

FREEZER: Wrap each sausage in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and then place them into a freezer bag. Freeze for 2-3 months. Allow to thaw completely before reheating.

How to Reheat Leftovers

For best results, reheat in the oven or in a skillet on the stove top.

Smoked baked beans and BBQ baked beans on the grill are a great side dish to serve with these tasty smoked sausages. You can also serve them with easy smoked vegetables or grilled vegetables too.

    Smoked at 225-250 for 1.1/2 hrs. Most juicy sausage I’ve ever had!almost melt in your mouth!!! I used Johnsonville frozen sausage.
